[§9.1 of the Foundation’s charter]

The Foundation was established in 2005. It is non-governmental public charity organization. Its aim is to bring help to family. We help lone mothers, work with engaged couples and marriages, finance activities promoting infertility treatment, gather funds for charity.

The Foundation has got the special status called OPP (Organizacja Pożytku Publicznego). This status can only be given by a Polish Court of Justice, on NGO’s application, after meeting statutory demands, first and foremost heading towards securing high standards of financial transparency. For more than 75 000 NGOs in Poland (i.e. foundations and associations) about 6 000 has this status.

The Foundation is seated in Łódź, Poland. Łódź is the third biggest city in Poland (747 000 inhabitants), located almost in the centre of the country. It is known, among other things, for the world-wide famous Film School; the longest trade/shopping track in Europe (more than 4 km length) – the Piotrkowska Street; the most numerous in Europe collection of eclectic historic monuments (for example art nouveau villas) from 19th and 20th centrury; the Festival of Dialogue of Four Cultures (Polish, German, Jewish and Russian – who in peaceful cooperation built the wealth Łódź in the 19th century). Despite these strong sides, there are still many challenges.

The Foundation was founded by the Family Support Centre that functions in the structures of the Rome-Catholic Archdiocese of Łódź. The Centre helps families for more than 10 years. It gives free advices in the area of law, psychology, pedagogy (about 4 000 – 5 000 advices a year), supports adoption (more than 1350 children have found home since Centre’s inception), runs in cooperation with the local authorities eating-house for the poor (serves more than 45 000 meals a year).

At present the most substantial Foundation’s task is the financial support for the construction of the building of the Stanisława Leszczyńska Lone-Mother House (Stanisława Leszczyńska was a heroic midwife from Auschwitz, nazi concentration camp). The House will be the biggest and the most modern in Poland. The photographs from the building can be found
